Postmodernism represents skepticism toward metanarratives and universal ideologies that dominated the modernist era. The study focuses on three key Postmodernist concepts - alternative assessment, process syllabi, and self-directed learning. Alternative assessment emphasizes evaluating the learning process over summative testing. Process syllabi focus on the learning experience rather than rigid outcomes. Self-directed learning enables student responsibility in setting learning goals and processes. This paper examined the effects of Postmodernist educational concepts on improving Iranian EFL learners’ autonomy. A quasi-experimental pre-test/Post-test design was utilized with 60 intermediate level Iranian EFL students divided into an experimental and control group (n=30 each). The experimental group received instruction utilizing the three Postmodernist concepts over 14 weeks, while the control group received traditional modernist instruction. Autonomy was measured using a validated questionnaire before and after the intervention. The results showed the experimental group demonstrated significant increases in autonomy compared to the control group. Paired sample t-tests revealed significant differences between pre-test and Post-test autonomy for the experimental group across all three Postmodern concepts - alternative assessment, process syllabi, and self-directed learning. This suggests Postmodernist concepts that decentralize instruction and emphasize student process over outcomes can enhance Iranian EFL learners’ self-direction and responsibility for language acquisition. The study implies EFL syllabus designers and instruction should transition to Postmodern models centered on individualized assessment, flexible syllabi, and student-guided learning to boost autonomy. Further research can expand sample sizes and explore additional Postmodernist concepts across diverse demographics.

'Post-truth' has become a buzzword for numerous current crises: the fragmentation of the media landscape, the ongoing debate about 'fake news', the loss of trust in science, etc. Although these crises take place in society, it is claimed that the roots of Post-truth can be traced back to the history of philosophy. Occasionally, it is asserted that Karl Popper's critical rationalism gave rise to Post-truth: His rejection of verificationism has limited truth claims in the realm of science. Given the absence of infallible evidence and certainty, critical rationalism calls for challenging scientific authority. I argue that Post-truth is compatible with critical rationalism from an epistemological point of view, considering that both positions are critical of certainty. However, in critical rationalism, fallibilism, responsibility, and the idea of criticism are combined, and in this respect, it offers a possible way to overcome the problems that are associated with Post-truth. This treatment of the problems of Post-truth results from the recognition of moral responsibility to take action on the basis of a hypothesis that remains open to revision.

بحث کنونی بر این نظر استوار است که ضمن طرح مبانی جهان بینی مدرن، مولفه های اساسی رویکرد نقادانه پسامدرن را به بررسی گذارد. در این گفتار نخست، درباره خردگرایی و انسان باوری مدرن؛ دو اصل محوری مدرنیته بحث می شود و تاثیر آنها را در تشکیل جهان، جامعه و انسان مدرن می سنجد. در خلال بیان این دو اصل و در ذیل آنها به برخی دیگر از اصول مدرنیته بنابر ضرورت، تناسب و پیوستگی با این اصول اشاره می شود.در گفتار دوم، رویکرد پسامدرن در مواجهه با مدرنیته به بحث گذاشته شده است. رویکرد نقادانه اخیر در نقد فراگیر و ساختار شکنانه از کلیت عقلانیت مدرن، از سنت اندیشه خردگرایی انتقادی می گسلد و با لحنی آخر زمانی درباره مدرنیته، هر گونه امکان عرضه بدیلی در قالب پروژه مدرنیته را منتفی می شمارد. پسامدرنیسم با گریز از این سنت و نفی فراگیر عقل مدرن هر گونه امکان آزادی از مهار عقلانیت ابزاری و نفی استیلای آن بر جامعه کنونی را دور از دسترسی می پندارد و از این رو، از یکسو به محافظه کاری و از سوی دیگر به هیچ انگاری (نیهیلیسم) می گراید.

جریان فکری پست مدرن در میانه قرن بیستم میلادی جوانه زد و تا به امروز از رشد، تحول و زایایی برخوردار بوده است. در مورد خاستگاه، تبار و دیرینه پست مدرنیسم شک و تردید بی شماری موجود است، زیرا گروهی از نظریه پردازان میراث آن را به مدرنیسم یا حتی ضد مدرنیسم ربط می دهند و عده ای نیز آن را نحله فکری، فلسفی مستقل، یگانه و خودجوش بر می شمرند. با وجود این، بدون تردید بایستی پست مدرنیسم را به عنوان گفتمان مسلط در اندیشه و هنر دنیای امروز پذیرفت. آن چه لازم است مورد توجه بیشتری قرار گیرد، جست و جوی تاثیرات پست مدرنیسم در زیست اجتماع کنونی ماست که به واسطه رسانه های ارتباطی نوین به شکل دهکده ای کوچک اما جهانی در آمده است. پست مدرنیسم مکتب فلسفی و هنری چند وجهی است که باید آن را چهارراه تداخل و تماس عناصر متفاوت و متضاد فرهنگ ها نامید. پست مدرنیسم موج نویی است که از تفسیر و تاویل دستاوردهای پیشین و ترکیب آن با تاملات کنونی پدیدار گشته است و به همین دلیل تاثیر مطالعاتی این پژوهش به بازشناسی پست مدرنیسم در تفـکر معاصـر و سپس چگونگـی نفوذ آن بر جریان تئاتر پیشرو می پردازد و با تکیه بر بازخوانی اندیشه های آنتونن آرتو، هنرمند نظریه پرداز فرانسوی تئاتر آیینی، به پیشگامی او برای ایجاد تئاتر پست مدرن اشاره دارد.
